Novel anti-hypertensive compositions

A pharmaceutical composition for treating hypertension comprising

• A. a decarboxylase inhibitor compound having the formula ##STR13## wherein R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are independently selected from hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof and
• B. an arylalanine selected from compounds having the formulae:
• ##STR14## wherein R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are independently selected from hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, R.sub.6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy and C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and ##STR15## wherein R.sub.9, R.sub.10, and R.sub.11 are independently selected from hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, X is ##STR16## wherein R.sub.12 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl and Z is =O or --O--R.sub.13 wherein R.sub.13 is selected from hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkly, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof wherein the weight ratio of (A):(B) is about 400:1 to about 1:4.
