m-Phenylenebis(carbonylimino)dinaphthalenetrisulfonic acids and salts useful as complement inhibitors.

A compound selected from those of the formula ##STR5## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of ##STR6## and A is hydrogen, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, with the proviso that each A is identical in the same compound.

A compound according to claim 2, 8,8'-{{5-[3-(3-nitro-p-tolyl)ureido]-1,3-phenylene}bis(carbonylimino)}di-1 ,3,6-naphthalenetrisulfonic acid, hexasodium salt.
A compound according to claim 2, 8,8'-{{5-{3[m-(fluorosulfonyl)phenyl]ureido}-1,3-phenylene}bis(carbonylimi no)}di-1,3,6-naphthalenetrisulfonic acid, hexasodium salt.
A compound according to claim 2, 8,8'-{{5-[3(.alpha.,.alpha.,.alpha.-trifluoro-m-tolyl)ureido]-1,3-phenylen e}bis(carbonylimido)}di-1,3,6-naphthalenetrisulfonic acid, hexasodium salt.
A compound according to claim 3, 8,8'-{{5-[3(3-nitro-p-tolyl)ureido]-1,3-phenylene}bis(carbonylimino)}di-1, 3,5-naphthalenetrisulfonic acid, hexasodium salt.
