Abstract
A synthesis of vitamin E in racemic or optically active forms from methacryolein or beta-hydroxyisobutyric acid including intermediates in this synthesis.
Claims2
An optically active antipode of the formula:
- ##STR42## wherein R.sub.1 is benzyl, tetrahydropyranyl or t-butyl or its optically active antipode, said antipode being free of its other optically active antipode.
