Abstract
Process for the selective production of para-xylene by methylation of toluene in the presence of a catalyst comprising the crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite ZSM-23.

A process for the selective production of para xylene which comprises reacting toluene with a methylating agent at a temperature between about 300.degree. C. and about 750.degree. C. in the presence of a catalyst comprising the crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite ZSM-23.
