Abstract
Thermoplastic molding compositions based on styrene polymers contain, as a flameproofing agent, an organic bromine compound of the general formula ##STR1## where X is a hydrocarbon radical and n is 0 or 1. The compositions may be used for the manufacture of self-extinguishing moldings, e.g. foams.

A thermoplastic molding composition comprising a styrene homopolymer or a styrene copolymer containing a flameproofing amount of an organic bromine compound of the general formula ##STR5## where X is a divalent aliphatic aromatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic radical of up to 12 carbon atoms and n is 0 or 1.
