Abstract
Polymerizations catalyzed by very finely divided lithium. The process is characterized in using lithium having an average particle diameter of less than 2.mu. and preferably of 0.1.mu. or less as a polymerization initiator. The process permits .alpha.-.omega. dilithic oligomers to be obtained.
Claims9
In a process for the polymerization of monomers comprising reacting at least one conjugated dienic monomer in the presence of an inert solvent and suspended lithium as a polymerization initiator at a temperature between about -40.degree. C to +25.degree. C, the improvement consisting of employing lithium having an average particle diameter of less than about 2 .mu..
