Abstract
Derivatives of imidazo[4,5-b]pyridines having the general formula ##STR1## are disclosed. The novel compounds are useful as central nervous system depressants and anti-inflammatory agents.

A compound of the formula ##STR55## wherein R is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R.sup.1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl, phenyl-lower alkyl or cyclo-lower alkyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl or phenyl-lower alkyl;
- R.sup.3 is di-lower alkylamino-lower alkyl;
- R.sup.4 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or phenyl;
- and physiologically acceptable salts thereof.
