Abstract
A new family of crystalline zeolites, designated ZSM-21, a method of making same and the use thereof in catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons is the subject of this application. The new zeolites have the composition, in the anhydrous state, expressed in terms of mole ratios of oxides as follows: (0.3-2.5)R.sub.2 O : (0-0.8)M.sub.2 O : Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 : >8 SiO.sub.2 wherein R is an organic nitrogen-containing cation and M is an alkali metal cation, and are characterized by a specified X-ray powder diffraction pattern.
Claims20
A synthetic crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having a composition in the anhydrous state, expressed in terms of mole ratios of oxides as follows:
- (0.3-2.5)R.sub.2 O :
- (0-0.8)M.sub.2 O :
- Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 :
- >
- 8 SiO.sub.2
- wherein R is an organic nitrogen-containing cation derived from a 2-(hydroxyalkyl)trialkylammonium compound and M is an alkali metal cation and having an X-ray powder diffraction pattern substantially the same as that shown in Table 1A of the specification, the sorption capacity of said zeolite after calcination at 600.degree. C being characterized by the ratio of normal hexane sorption to 2-methylpentane sorption at 90.degree. C of less than 10.
