Abstract
There disclose new penicillin esters and S-oxides thereof which are of value as intermediates for the preparation of various cephalosporin antibiotics.

A penicillin ester having the formula:
- ##STR9## wherein A is a conventional penicillin acylamino group;
- B is =S or =S--O;
- and
- R.sub.1 is methyl, methoxy or ethoxy.
