Abstract
A product comprising a mat of fibers prepared by electrostatically spinning an organic material and collecting the spun fibers on a suitable receiver.
Claims16
A product comprising a mat of organic fibers prepared by electrostatically spinning an organic material and collecting the spun fibers on a suitable receiver.
A wound dressing comprising a flexible non-absorbent hydrophobic mat formed of electrostatically spun organic fibres and having a thickness of between 25 and 1500 microns, an average pore size between 50 and 100 microns and a porosity of 60 to 80%, the fibres having a diameter of 0.1 to 25 microns and being prepared by introducing a liquid containing a fibre-forming organic material into an electric field, drawing fibres from the liquid to an electrode and hardening the drawn fibres, and a non-absorbent backing layer.
