Abstract
Beta-hydroxyalkylsulfoxides are prepared by reacting an olefin and a thiol with oxygen in the presence of a dye sensitizer using visible light as an energy source at a temperature from -10.degree. to 70.degree. C.
Claims13
A process for preparing .beta.-hydroxyalkylsulfoxides by reacting an olefinically unsaturated compound containing 2 to 30 carbon atoms and a thiol containing 1 to 24 carbon atoms with oxygen in the presence of a dye sensitizer using visible light as an energy source at a temperature within the range from about -10.degree. to +70.degree. C.
