A combined cycle electric power plant includes gas and steam turbines and a steam generator for recovering the heat in the exhaust gases exited from the gas turbine and for using the recovered heat to produce and supply steam to the steam turbine. The steam generator includes a superheater tube through which a fluid, e.g. water, is directed to be additionally heated into superheated steam by the exhaust gas turbine gases. An afterburner further heats the exhaust gas turbine gases passed to the superheater tube. The temperature of the gas turbine exhaust gases is sensed for varying the fuel flow to the afterburner by a fuel valve, whereby the temperatures of the gas turbine exhaust gases and therefore of the superheated steam, are controlled. Further, override signals are generated to prevent the temperature of the superheated steam from falling below a predetermined minimum level and for preventing the temperature and pressure of the superheated steam from exceeding maximum levels.
A combined cycle electric power plant comprising:
A control system for a steam generator for circulating steam to and from a steam turbine associated with a condenser for converting the spent steam from the steam turbine to condensate, a burner for heating gases directed to said steam generator, temperature measuring means disposed to measure the temperature of the gases heated by said burner to be directed to said generator, for providing an output indicative thereof, and a valve for controlling the fuel flow to said burner, said control system comprising a superheated steam temperature control means responsive to the output of said temperature measuring means for controlling the opening of said burner fuel valve in accordance thereto.
A control system for a combined cycle electric power plant including a gas turbine including an exit through which heated exhaust gases pass, means for generating steam coupled to said gas turbine exit for transferring heat from the exhaust gases to a fluid passing through said steam generator means, a steam turbine coupled to said steam generating means and driven by the steam supplied thereby, means for generating electric power by the driving power of said turbines, condenser means for receiving and converting the spent steam from said steam turbine into condensate, an afterburner for supplying additional heat to the exhaust gases passing from said gas turbine to said steam generator means, temperature measuring means disposed to measure the temperature of the exhaust gases as heated by said afterburner and to be passed to said steam generating means, for providing an output indicative thereof, and valve means for controlling the fuel flow to said afterburner, said control system comprising superheated steam temperature control means responsive to the output of said temperature measuring means for controlling the opening of said afterburner fuel valve.
