Abstract
This disclosure describes novel 15-hydroxy-16,16-spirocycloalkyl prostanoic acids and derivatives and congeners thereof which are useful as bronchodilators and gastric acid secretion inhibitors.
Claims31
A compound selected from the group consisting of an optically active compound of the formula:
- ##STR48## and a racemic compound of that formula and the mirror image thereof wherein X is a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of those of the formulae:
- ##STR49## Y is a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of those of the formulae:
- ##STR50## R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen or hydroxy;
- and R.sub.3 is 2-cis-alkenyl having 4 or 5 carbon atoms or 2-alkynyl having 4 or 5 carbon atoms;
- and the pharmacologically acceptable cationic salts thereof when R.sub.1 is hydrogen.
