Method of forming color photographic images

A method of forming color photographic images which comprises developing an imagewise exposed photographic silver halide emulsion layer with a primary aromatic amino color developing agent in the presence of a yellow color forming coupler represented by the following general formula (I):

• ##STR6## wherein X.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, a 2-tetrahydropyranyl group, a 2-pyridyl group, a 4-pyridyl group or an acyl group having up to about 35 carbon atoms;
• X.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group;
• X.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or an acyl group having up to about 35 carbon atoms;
• Y represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom;
• X.sub.2 and X.sub.3 can combine to form a pyrrolidine ring or a piperidine ring;
• and Q represents a residue of an .alpha.-acylacetamide yellow color forming coupler in which one hydrogen atom attached to the active methylene group of the coupler is eliminated.
