Abstract
A new antibiotic, Fortimicin A, is produced by fermentation of a microorganism belonging to the genus Micromonospora. The antibiotic is accumulated in the culture medium and is isolated therefrom.
Claims1
The antibiotic Fortimicin A characterized by:
- (a) a molecular weight of 405;
- (b) the molecular formula of C.sub.17 H.sub.35 N.sub.5 O.sub.6 ;
- (c) an ultraviolet absorption spectrum essentially as shown in FIG. 1;
- and
- (d) an infrared absorption spectrum essentially
- as shown in FIG. 2 or its pharmaceutically acceptable acid salts.
