Abstract
Process for producing sodium carbonate monohydrate crystals having a high bulk density, blocky crystal shape, and uniform particle size distribution from sodium carbonate solutions wherein the sodium carbonate monohydrate is crystallized in the presence of magnesium ions and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate.
Claims7
A process for producing sodium carbonate monohydrate crystals having a high bulk density, blocky crystal shape, and uniform particle size distribution from an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate;
- which comprises:
- adding to said aqueous solution of sodium carbonate a crystal growth additive system consisting essentially of about 20 to about 100 ppm Mg.sup.+.sup. 2 and about 5 to about 20 ppm sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate based on the sodium carbonate solution;
- crystallizing sodium carbonate monohydrate from the sodium carbonate solution;
- and recovering the sodium carbonate monohydrate crystals.
