Abstract
Gaseous C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 olefins, either alone or in admixture with paraffins, are converted into an olefinic gasoline blending stock with a good research octane number in good yields by passage over a ZSM-5 type zeolite catalyst of controlled acidity. The catalyst must have reduced activity for cracking of n-hexane or aromatization of olefins or paraffins if it is to be useful for the purpose of this invention.
Claims12
A process for producing a gasoline fraction having therein no more than about 20% by weight of aromatics, said process comprising contacting a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 olefin, mixtures thereof or mixtures thereof with paraffins having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms with a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite selected from the group consisting of ZSM-5 and ZSM-11 and having an .alpha.-value of from about 0.1 to about 120, at a WHSV of from about 0.1 to about 25 and at a temperature of from about 500.degree.F to about 900.degree.F, whereby said gasoline fraction containing predominantly higher olefins is obtained.
