Abstract
Compounds containing a lipophilic radical, a polyethyleneoxy group and an ethylenically unsaturated radical are disclosed. The compounds are useful as nonionic monomeric emulsion stabilizers.
Claims13
A compound having the formula
- R-O-V
- wherein V is 2-acryloyloxyethyl, methacryloyloxyethyl, 3-acryloyloxy-2-hydroxypropyl, 3-methacryloyloxy-2-hydroxypropyl, allyl methallyl, 3-allyloxy-2-hydroxypropyl or 3-methallyloxy-2-hydroxypropyl and R is ##EQU13## wherein Y is alkylene having 2 or 3 carbon atoms, --CH=CH or ##EQU14## n is an integer from 9 to 50;
- L is an aliphatic hydrocarbon chain having from 8 to 28 carbon atoms which is linked to the oxygen directly or covalently linked thereto through a phenylene linkage or is ##EQU15## wherein R' is methoxy, ethoxy, acetoxy, propionoxy or hydroxyl and m is an integer from 9 to 29, L' is an aliphatic hydrocarbon chain having from 8 to 28 carbon atoms and R' is methoxy, ethoxy, acetoxy, propionoxy or hydroxyl.
A compound of the formula:
- ##EQU21## wherein R is alkyl having from 8-28 carbon atoms, R' is H or CH.sub.3, A is --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --or ##EQU22## wherein m is 2 or 3, and n is from 9 to 50.
