Abstract
6-(.alpha.-3-Acyl-ureidoacetamido)-penicillanic acids and pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic salts thereof in which the hydrogen atom of the nitrogen atom present in the 3-position is substituted, are effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative infections, particularly Klebsiella aerobacter infections.
Claims27
A compound selected from the group consisting of a penicillin of the formula:
- ##EQU26## and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein the carbon atom designated * constitutes a center of chirality;
- X is hydrogen, lower alkyl, monohalo(lower alkyl), dihalo(lower alkyl), triahalo(lower alkyl), lower alkoxy or cyclohexyloxy;
- Y is lower alkyl;
- and
- B is phenyl or phenyl substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, monohalo dihalo or lower alkylthio.
