Abstract
The main sapogenin of the roots and rhizomes of Helleborus species is used in medicine, especially to treat ulcers.

A pharmaceutical composition useful in the treatment of ulcers comprising an effective amount of the main sapogenin of the roots and rhizomes of Helleborus species and a non-toxic pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, said sapogenin having the formula ##SPC2##
