Claims17
In a process for preparing an anhydrous alkali metal dithionite which comprises forming a reaction mixture consisting essentially of one or both of formic acid and an alkali metal formate, sulphur dioxide, and a basic alkali metal compound, all in solution or suspension in a liquid reaction medium and causing said mixture to react thereby producing anhydrous alkali metal dithionite salt, the improvement which comprises performing the reaction in a medium consisting essentially of 2-methoxyethanol.
