Abstract
An electrostatographic developer mixture comprising finely divided toner particles electrostatically clinging to the surface of larger carrier beads, each of the carrier beads comprising a core particle surrounded by a thin outer layer of a poly(p-xylylene) polymer. Imaging processes of developing electrostatic latent images with the developer mixture are also disclosed.
Claims9
An electrostatographic reversal development imaging process comprising the steps of providing an electrostatographic imaging member having a recording surface, forming an electrostatic latent image on said recording surface, and contacting said electrostatic latent image with a developer mixture comprising finely-divided toner particles electrostatically clinging to the surface of carrier particles capable of generating a negative triboelectric charge when mixed with said toner particles, said carrier particles comprising more core particles having an average diameter between about 1 micron and about 1,000 microns, and said core particles being surrounded by a thin outer layer consisting of poly(p-xylylene), whereby at least a portion of said finely-divided toner particles are attracted to and deposited on said recording surface in conformance with said electrostatic latent image.
