Abstract
A process is disclosed for the production of alkylbenzenes by contacting phenyl alkyl ketones and/or 1-phenylalkanols with hydrogen in the presence of a supported noble metal of Group VIII at a temperature above about 175.degree.C.
Claims8
A process for the preparation of alkyl benzenes by contacting phenyl alkyl ketones and/or phenyl alkanols in which alkanols the alkanol moiety has at least two carbon atoms and the phenyl and hydroxyl groups are attached to the same carbon atom, with hydrogen at a temperature between about 175.degree.C and about 450.degree.C and with a supported noble metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table of the Elements as a catalyst.
