Abstract
Halogenethyl esters of aromatic carboxylic acids are useful ingredients to influence plant metabolism. They may be used preferably for regulating fruit abscission.
Claims6
A process for the promotion of fruit abscission which comprises applying to the fruitbearing plant or to the fruit itself an effective amount of a halogenoethyl ester corresponding to the formula ##SPC6##
- wherein
- R.sub.1 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, nitro or halogen,
- R.sub.2 represents hydrogen, halogen, lower alkoxy or lower alkyl,
- R.sub.3 represents hydrogen or lower alkoxy,
- A represents the methylene group and
- m represents the number 0 to 1

A composition for the promotion of fruit abscission comprising as active ingredient, an effective amount of a halogenoethyl ester of the formula ##SPC7##
- wherein R.sub.4 is selected from hydrogen chloro, bromo, fluoro, trifluoromethyl and methyl radicals;
- and R.sub.5 is selected from hydrogen, chloro when R.sub.4 is chloro, and methyl when R.sub.4 is methyl together with a suitable inert carrier therefor.
