Abstract
New antibacterial agents, 1,2'-di-N-(.alpha.-hydroxyaminoacyl)-kanamycin B and 1,2'-di-N-(.alpha.-hydroxyaminoacyl)-3',4'-dideoxy kanamycin B are described together with methods for their preparation and use.

A compound selected from the group consisting of 1,2'-di-N-(4-amino-2-hydroxybutyryl)-kanamycin B;
- 1,2'-di-N-(4-amino-2-hydroxybutyryl)-3',4'-dideoxykanamycin B;
- 1,2'-di-N-isoserylkanamycin B;
- 1,2'-di-N-isoseryl-3',4'-dideoxykanamycin B;
- and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid-addition salts thereof.
