Abstract

Benzyl-substituted cyclooctanone compounds which exhibit hypocholesterolemic properties.

Dependent claims

As new compositions of matter compounds of the formula ##SPC9##

where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 = ##SPC10##
with R.sub.3 being H, OH, OCH.sub.3, OC.sub.2 H.sub.5, CH.sub.3 or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 and the aromatic ring in each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 being independently unsubstituted or substituted with not more than three substituents selected from Cl, F, CN, NH.sub.2, CF.sub.3, OH, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylamine and lower dialkylamino.
