Preparation and the anticonvulsant utility of 1-(10-cyano/halo-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5-yl)-4-[(pyridylmethylene)ami no]piperazines are disclosed.

A compound of the formula ##SPC4##
- wherein X represents chlorine, bromine or cyano and R represents hydrogen or lower alkyl.
1-(10-Bromo-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5-yl)-4-piperazineamine.
5-(4-amino-1-piperazinyl)-5H-dibenzo[a,d]=cycloheptene-10-carbonitrile.
