Abstract
In one embodiment of the disclosed technology, an image sensing device includes a circuit layer, a photodetector including an active area configured to detect light and disposed on the circuit layer, and a substrate layer on the photodetector, wherein the substrate layer includes a trench that is recessed in a thickness direction of the substrate layer and surrounds an active area in a plan view.

An image sensing device comprising:
- a circuit layer;
- a photodetector including an active area configured to detect light and disposed on the circuit layer;
- and
- a substrate layer on the photodetector,
- wherein the substrate layer includes a trench that is recessed in a thickness direction of the substrate layer and surrounds an active area in a plan view.

A system for imagining a target object, comprising:
- a light source configured to emit light toward a target object;
- and
- a pixel array including:
- a pixel area including an active area configured to receive light reflected from the target object;
- and a non-pixel area around the pixel area,
- wherein the pixel array includes:
- a circuit layer;
- a photodetector including an active area configured to detect light and disposed on the circuit layer;
- and
- a substrate layer disposed on the photodetector,
- wherein the substrate layer includes a trench surrounding the active area, a deep trench in the non-pixel area, the deep trench having a greater recess depth than the trench surrounding the active area, and a recessed structure inside the trench or between the deep trench and the trench, and
- wherein the trench, the deep trench, and the recessed structure have different recess depths.
