Abstract
A cooktop including a power supply having a first line that supplies power at a first voltage and a second line that supplies power at a second voltage, the first voltage being out of phase with the second voltage, a first heating element, a second heating element, and an electrical switching assembly. The electrical switching assembly includes a first variable power output switch for regulating the application of the power at the first contact terminal of the first heating element and a second variable power output switch for regulating the application of the power at the second contact terminal of the second heating element.
Claims20
A cooktop comprising:
- a top panel;
- a power supply having a first line that supplies power at a first voltage and a second line that supplies power at a second voltage, the first voltage being out of phase with the second voltage;
- a first heating element positioned on or below the top panel, the first heating element extending between a first contact terminal selectively electrically coupled to the first line of the power supply and a second contact terminal selectively electrically coupled to the second line of the power supply;
- a second heating element positioned on or below the top panel, the second heating element extending between a first contact terminal selectively electrically coupled to the first line of the power supply and a second contact terminal selectively electrically coupled to the second line of the power supply;
- and
- an electrical switching assembly operably coupled to the first heating element and the second heating element, the electrical switching assembly comprising:
- a first variable power output switch for regulating power at the first contact terminal of the first heating element;
- and
- a second variable power output switch for regulating power at the second contact terminal of the second heating element.
An electrical supply system for a cooktop, the cooktop comprising a first heating element a first contact terminal and a second contact terminal and a second heating element extending between a first contact terminal and a second contact terminal, the electrical supply system comprising:
- a power supply having a first line that supplies power at a first voltage and a second line that supplies power at a second voltage, the first voltage being out of phase with the second voltage, wherein the first line is selectively electrically coupled to the first contact terminal of the first heating element and the first contact terminal of the second heating element, and wherein the second line is selectively electrically coupled to the second contact terminal of the first heating element and the second contact terminal of the second heating element;
- a first variable power output switch for regulating power at the first contact terminal of the first heating element;
- and
- a second variable power output switch for regulating power at the second contact terminal of the second heating element.
