Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, allocating radio access network (RAN) resources to support first devices that utilize a first radio access technology (RAT) and second devices that utilize a second RAT, resulting in a resource allocation, obtaining information regarding a quantity of the first devices, a quantity of the second devices, traffic loads associated with the first devices, traffic loads associated with the second devices, or a combination thereof, and adjusting the resource allocation based on the information. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Claims20
A device, comprising:
- a processing system including a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- allocating radio access network (RAN) resources to support first devices that utilize a first radio access technology (RAT) and second devices that utilize a second RAT, resulting in a resource allocation;
- obtaining information regarding a quantity of the first devices, a quantity of the second devices, traffic loads associated with the first devices, traffic loads associated with the second devices, or a combination thereof;
- and
- adjusting the resource allocation based on the information.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- allocating radio access network (RAN) resources to support first devices that utilize a first radio access technology (RAT) and second devices that utilize a second RAT, resulting in a resource allocation, wherein the allocating comprises allocating only a portion of a first spectrum resource or a first bandwidth that is associated with the first RAT;
- obtaining data regarding a quantity of the first devices, a quantity of the second devices, traffic loads associated with the first devices, traffic loads associated with the second devices, or a combination thereof;
- and
- adjusting the resource allocation based on the data.
A method, comprising:
- allocating, by a processing system including a processor, radio access network (RAN) resources to support first devices that utilize a first radio access technology (RAT) and second devices that utilize a second RAT, resulting in a resource allocation, wherein the processing system comprises or is included in a control or centralized unit (CU) or a distributed unit (DU) of an open cloud RAN;
- obtaining, by the processing system, information regarding a quantity of the first devices, a quantity of the second devices, traffic loads associated with the first devices, traffic loads associated with the second devices, or a combination thereof;
- and
- adjusting, by the processing system, the resource allocation based on the information.
