Abstract
A method of a base station, according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, may comprise an operation of determining a VR to be allocated to a terminal in an XL-MIMO antenna panel such that the terminal is located in a far field or a near field distinguished by a VR size reference value on the basis of service-related information and RSRP for each representative antenna.
Claims20
A method of a base station, comprising:
- receiving, from a terminal, a first signal including information on a distance between the base station and the terminal and information on an array antenna size of the terminal;
- determining, based on the distance between the base station and the terminal, a visibility region (VR) criterion value for distinguishing far-field communication and near-field communication in an extra-large scale massive multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO) antenna panel;
- dividing the XL-MIMO antenna panel into a predetermined number of groups;
- transmitting, to the terminal, reference signals (RSs) through representative antennas of the respective divided groups;
- receiving, from the terminal, reference signal received powers (RSRPs) for the representative antennas;
- receiving, from the terminal, service-related information of the terminal;
- and
- determining, based on the service-related information and the RSRPs for the representative antennas, a VR to be allocated to the terminal in the XL-MIMO antenna panel, such that the terminal is located in a far-field region or a near-field region distinguished by the VR size criterion value.
A base station comprising at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to cause the base station to:
- receive, from a terminal, a first signal including information on a distance between the base station and the terminal and information on an array antenna size of the terminal;
- determine, based on the distance information between the base station and the terminal, a visibility region (VR) size criterion value for distinguishing far-field communication and near-field communication in an extra-large scale massive multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO) antenna panel;
- divide the XL-MIMO antenna panel into a predetermined number of groups;
- transmit, to the terminal, reference signals (RSS) through representative antennas of the respective divided groups;
- receive, from the terminal, reference signal received powers (RSRPs) for the representative antennas;
- receive, from the terminal, service-related information of the terminal;
- and
- determine, based on the service-related information and the RSRPs for the representative antennas, a VR to be allocated to the terminal in the XL-MIMO antenna panel, such that the terminal is located in a far-field region or a near-field region distinguished by the VR size criterion value.
A method of a terminal, comprising:
- calculating a distance to a first base station based on a first reference signal (RS) received from the first base station;
- transmitting, to the first base station, a first signal including information on the calculated distance to the first base station and information on an array antenna size of the terminal;
- calculating a reference signal received power (RSRP) for each of second RSs received from the first base station;
- transmitting, to the first base station, a report message including information for identifying each of the second RSs and the RSRPs corresponding to the second RSs;
- transmitting, to the first base station, service-related information required by the terminal;
- and
- receiving, from the first base station, service-availability information indicating whether a service is available through a visibility region (VR),
- wherein the VR is composed of antennas in an extra-large scale massive multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO) antenna panel of the first base station that are capable of communicating with the terminal.
