Abstract
Apparatuses and methods for beam and sub-band (SB) mapping joint phase-time arrays (JPTAs). In some embodiments, method for operating a base station (BS) is provided. The method includes assigning a contiguous set of resource blocks (RBs) to beams of a JPTA and configuring at least one time delay generated by at least one time delay unit and at least one phase shifter to generate a contiguous SB allocation.
Claims20
A method for operating a base station (BS), the method comprising:
- assigning a contiguous set of resource blocks (RBs) to beams of a joint phase-time array (JPTA);
- and
- configuring at least one time delay generated by at least one time delay unit and at least one phase shifter to generate a contiguous sub-band (SB) allocation.
A base station (BS), comprising:
- an antenna element (AE) array comprising:
- at least one row of AEs and at least one column of AEs;
- at least one time delay unit, wherein a time delay unit is coupled to each row of AEs, a time delay unit is coupled to each column of AEs, or a time delay unit is coupled to each of the AEs;
- and
- at least one phase shifter connected to each of the AEs, wherein the BS is configured to:
- assign a contiguous set of resource blocks (RBs) to beams of a joint phase-time array (JPTA);
- and
- configure at least one time delay generated by the at least one time delay unit and at least one phase shifter to generate a contiguous sub-band (SB) allocation.
