Systems, devices, and methods dynamically manage power of an Ethernet interface. A transmitting network device (TND) determines absence of pending data for processing, based on which the TND completes transmission of residual processed data of an ongoing data transfer operation. The TND transmits one or more control indications to a Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes) transmitter of a SerDes system based on the completion of the transmission of the residual processed data. The SerDes transmitter transitions from a power-up mode to a power-down mode based on the control indication(s). The TND determines presence of the pending data, based on which the TND transmits another control indication(s) to the SerDes transmitter. The SerDes transmitter transitions from the power-down mode to the power-up mode based on the other control indication(s). The SerDes system terminates transmission or reception of the data, and recovers without any influence on a link or the data.
