Dynamic monitoring of retransmission scheduling according to packet delay budgets

A user equipment (UE) for wireless communications comprising:

• one or more memories storing processor-executable code;
• and
• one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to execute the code to cause the UE to:
• transmit, to a network entity, an uplink message associated with a traffic flow having a packet delay budget;
• and
• switch a receiver of the UE to a sleep state after transmitting the uplink message, the receiver switching to the sleep state based at least in part on the packet delay budget or signaling from the network entity, or both.

A network entity for wireless communications comprising:

• one or more memories storing processor-executable code;
• and
• one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to execute the code to cause the network entity to:
• transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a downlink message associated with a traffic flow having a packet delay budget;
• transmit, to the UE, signaling comprising an indication that the UE switch to a sleep state after transmitting a feedback message based at least in part on the packet delay budget;
• and
• receive, from the UE, the feedback message indicating unsuccessful decoding of the downlink message.
