Abstract
Seamless Mobility Domain (SMD) support signaling and roaming procedures may be provided. SMD support signaling includes operating, by an access point (AP) in an SMD, as an ultra high reliability (UHR) AP managing a basic service set (BSS) in a wireless network. The AP periodically transmits beacon frames to advertise the BSS to one or more client devices, wherein the beacon frames comprise a UHR element indicating that the AP supports seamless roaming within the SMD.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- operating, by an access point (AP) in a seamless mobility domain (SMD), as an ultra high reliability (UHR) AP managing a basic service set (BSS) in a wireless network;
- and
- periodically transmitting, by the AP, beacon frames to advertise the BSS to one or more client devices;
- wherein the beacon frames comprise a UHR element indicating that the AP supports seamless roaming within the SMD.
A system comprising:
- a memory storage;
- and
- a processing unit coupled to the memory storage, wherein the processing unit is operative to:
- operate as an ultra high reliability (UHR) AP managing a basic service set (BSS) in a wireless network;
- and
- periodically transmit beacon frames to advertise the BSS to one or more client devices;
- wherein the beacon frames comprise a UHR element indicating that seamless roaming support within a seamless mobility domain (SMD).
A non-transitory computer-readable medium that stores a set of instructions which when executed by a processing unit, cause the processing unit to perform a method comprising:
- operating as an ultra high reliability (UHR) AP managing a basic service set (BSS) in a wireless network;
- and
- periodically transmitting beacon frames to advertise the BSS to one or more client devices;
- wherein the beacon frames comprise a UHR element indicating seamless roaming support within a seamless mobility domain (SMD).
