Layer 1/2 triggered mobility operation

A method, comprising:

• determining channel state information for a serving cell and channel state information for a candidate cell;
• transmitting, to a network element, a report comprising the channel state information of the serving cell and the channel state information of the candidate cell;
• receiving, in response to transmitting the report, a channel switch command from the network element;
• determining whether an event is triggered based on an evaluation of the channel state information of the serving cell and the channel state information of the candidate cell;
• and
• releasing, in response to determining that an event is triggered, channel state information processing units allocated for the determination of the channel state information for the serving cell.

A non-transitory computer readable medium encoded with instructions that, when executed in hardware, perform a process, the process comprising:

• determining channel state information for a serving cell and channel state information for a candidate cell;
• transmitting, to a network element, a report comprising the channel state information of the serving cell and the channel state information of the candidate cell;
• receiving, in response to transmitting the report, a channel switch command from the network element;
• determining whether an event is triggered based on an evaluation of the channel state information of the serving cell and the channel state information of the candidate cell;
• and
• releasing, in response to determining that an event is triggered, channel state information processing units allocated for the determination of the channel state information for the serving cell.
