Abstract
A system and method for performing a channel scan based on a power level of a signal from a Wi-Fi access point are disclosed. The method may include performing a spectrum scan of a plurality of Wi-Fi channels. The method may also include calculating a power density of the plurality of Wi-Fi channels. The method may additionally include creating a table of the plurality of Wi-Fi channels. The table may order the plurality of Wi-Fi channels based on the power density of the plurality of Wi-Fi channels.

A system, comprising:
- a PHY circuit;
- a media access control (MAC) circuit communicatively coupled to the PHY circuit, the MAC circuit containing a look up table;
- and
- a control circuit, the control circuit to:
- instruct the PHY circuit to perform a spectrum scan of a plurality of Wi-Fi channels;
- calculate a power density of the plurality of Wi-Fi channels;
- and
- populate the look up table of the plurality of Wi-Fi channels, the look up table ordering the plurality of Wi-Fi channels based on the power density of the plurality of Wi-Fi channels.
