Security for groupcast sidelink positioning

A core network function configured to, when executing instructions stored in a memory, perform operations comprising:

• receiving a first message from a user equipment (UE), the first message comprising a request for a sidelink positioning group key;
• and
• in response to the first message, outputting a second message for transmission to the UE, the second message comprising (i) the sidelink positioning group key, (ii) a group identifier associated with the sidelink positioning group key, and (iii) ciphering and integrity information.

One or more processors configured to, when executing instructions stored in a memory, perform operations comprising:

• sending a first message to a core network function, the first message comprising a request for a sidelink positioning group key;
• and
• in response to the first message, receiving a second message comprising (i) the sidelink positioning group key, (ii) a group identifier associated with the sidelink positioning group key, and (iii) ciphering and integrity information.

A method comprising:

• receiving a first message from a UE, the first message comprising a request for a sidelink positioning group key;
• and
• in response to the first message, transmitting a second message to the UE, the second message comprising (i) the sidelink positioning group key, (ii) a group identifier associated with the sidelink positioning group key, and (iii) ciphering and integrity information.
