Proximity services secondary authentication using locally configured dnn information

A relay wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

• a transceiver and a processor operatively coupled with the transceiver, the transceiver and processor configured to:
• receive, from a policy control function (PCF) during a relay service provisioning procedure, a data network (DN) authentication and authorization (A&A) required indication for a corresponding relay service, the DN A&A required indication associated with at least one of a relay service code (RSC) or a data network name (DNN);
• receive, from a remote WTRU, a connection request including the RSC and a remote user identity;
• send, to a session management function (SMF), a packet data unit (PDU) session establishment or modification request message including the remote user identity and the DNN associated with the RSC received from the remote WTRU;
• receive, from the SMF, a PDU session accept message including a related DN A&A required indication associated with the DNN;
• determine, based on the related DN A&A required indication from the SMF, a proximity services secondary authentication (ProSe SA) procedure is required for the remote WTRU;
• and
• send, to the remote WTRU, a connection accept response indicating the ProSe SA procedure associated with the DNN is required.

A method for a network node including a session management function (SMF), the method comprising:

• storing local configuration information of a data network (DN) used for relay service, including at least one DN name (DNN) and an associated DN authentication and authorization (A&A) required indication;
• receiving a packet data unit (PDU) session establishment or modification request from a relay wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) for DN access by a remote WTRU, including a remote user identity and an indicated DNN;
• determining proximity services (ProSe) secondary authentication (SA) is required for the remote WTRU based, at least in part, on the remote user identity, the indicated DNN and the local configuration information;
• sending a PDU session establishment or modification response to the relay WTRU including an indication that DN A&A is required for the remote WTRU;
• receiving a remote WTRU report request message from the relay WTRU including the remote user identity;
• initiating a ProSe SA procedure for the remote WTRU based on the received remote WTRU report request;
• and
• sending a remote WTRU report response message to the relay WTRU including a result of the ProSe SA procedure.
