Abstract
Methods and systems for migrating data between provider systems are disclosed. The migration may be performed using a migration orchestrator as-a-service (MOaaS) schema where instances of a migration orchestrator that is configured at a data source (e.g., a source provider system) are instantiated on systems of all other actors/personas involved with the data migration. The instances of the migration orchestrator may cooperatively fulfill the migration of the data using a shared data migration transcript. The data migration transcript may also include jurisdiction based sub phases.
Claims20
A method for migrating data between provider systems comprising:
- determining, by a first migration orchestrator of a source provider system, that a migration of customer data from source provider system to a destination provider system is a cross-jurisdiction migration involving at least two jurisdictions;
- generating, by the first migration orchestrator, jurisdiction based sub phases based on the at least two jurisdictions, the jurisdiction based sub phases being included into a data migration transcript used for the migration and are sub phases of at least one migration phase specified in the data migration transcript;
- generating, by the first migration orchestrator, a migration rules enforcement tool based on the at least two jurisdictions, the migration rules enforcement tool forces the source provider system and destination provider system to perform migration processes that are compliant with requirements of the at least two jurisdictions;
- and
- using, by the first migration orchestrator and in cooperation with the destination provider system, the migration rules enforcement tool and the data migration transcript to fulfill the cross-jurisdiction migration.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium having instructions stored therein, which when executed by a processor of a source provider system, cause the processor to perform operations for migrating data between provider systems, the operations comprising:
- determining, by a first migration orchestrator of the source provider system, that a migration of customer data from source provider system to a destination provider system is a cross-jurisdiction migration involving at least two jurisdictions;
- generating, by the first migration orchestrator, jurisdiction based sub phases based on the at least two jurisdictions, the jurisdiction based sub phases being included into a data migration transcript used for the migration and are sub phases of at least one migration phase specified in the data migration transcript;
- generating, by the first migration orchestrator, a migration rules enforcement tool based on the at least two jurisdictions, the migration rules enforcement tool forces the source provider system and destination provider system to perform migration processes that are compliant with requirements of the at least two jurisdictions;
- and
- using, by the first migration orchestrator and in cooperation with the destination provider system, the migration rules enforcement tool and the data migration transcript to fulfill the cross-jurisdiction migration.
A data processing system of a source provider system, the data processing system comprising:
- a central processing unit (CPU);
- and
- a memory coupled to the CPU to store instructions, which when executed by the CPU, cause the CPU to perform operations for migrating data between provider systems, the operations comprising:
- determining, by a first migration orchestrator of the source provider system, that a migration of customer data from source provider system to a destination provider system is a cross-jurisdiction migration involving at least two jurisdictions;
- generating, by the first migration orchestrator, jurisdiction based sub phases based on the at least two jurisdictions, the jurisdiction based sub phases being included into a data migration transcript used for the migration and are sub phases of at least one migration phase specified in the data migration transcript;
- generating, by the first migration orchestrator, a migration rules enforcement tool based on the at least two jurisdictions, the migration rules enforcement tool forces the source provider system and destination provider system to perform migration processes that are compliant with requirements of the at least two jurisdictions;
- and
- using, by the first migration orchestrator and in cooperation with the destination provider system, the migration rules enforcement tool and the data migration transcript to fulfill the cross-jurisdiction migration.
