Abstract
A method for multi-exposure imaging in an extended-reality (XR) system. The method includes: controlling at least one camera to capture a set of images by employing at least a first exposure (FE) and a second exposure (SE) during a readout cycle; processing a first image amongst the set, captured using the first exposure, for generating a video pass-through (VPT) image of a real-world environment, wherein the VPT image is to be utilised for generating an XR image; and processing a second image amongst the set, captured using the second exposure, for enabling at least one non-VPT XR functionality.
Claims15
A method for multi-exposure imaging in an extended-reality (XR) system, the method comprising:
- controlling at least one camera to capture a set of images by employing at least a first exposure and a second exposure during a readout cycle;
- processing a first image amongst the set, captured using the first exposure, for generating a video pass-through (VPT) image of a real-world environment, wherein the VPT image is to be utilised for generating an XR image;
- and
- processing a second image amongst the set, captured using the second exposure, for enabling at least one non-VPT XR functionality.
A system for multi-exposure imaging in an extended-reality (XR) system, the system comprising:
- at least one camera arranged on an XR device, wherein the at least one camera faces a real-world environment where the XR device is present;
- and
- a processor coupled to the at least one camera, wherein the processor is configured to:
- control the at least one camera to capture a set of images by employing at least a first exposure and a second exposure during a readout cycle;
- process a first image amongst the set, captured using the first exposure, for generating a video pass-through (VPT) image of the real-world environment, wherein the VPT image is to be utilised for generating an XR image;
- and
- process a second image amongst the set, captured using the second exposure, for enabling at least one non-VPT XR functionality.
