Abstract
A digital camera system includes an optical assembly to gather light from a desired scene, a modular imaging subsystem aligned with the optical assembly, and an image processing, recording and display subsystem.
Claims30
A processing and display system, comprising:
- (a) a processing subsystem comprising:
- (i) a multi-core CPU, a GPU, and dedicated hardware, the dedicated hardware comprising a codec for use in at least one of a recording, playback, or streaming engine, wherein the processing subsystem is configured for real-time stream processing of 10-bit or higher variable bit rate (VBR) video data, the video data comprising image data, the stream processing comprising at least one of encoding or decoding of at least one of:
- (A) a 4K (Quad HD) or higher resolution color-processed video format, comprising color subsampled formats;
- or (B) a Cinema 4K or higher resolution raw video format comprising raw video data, the raw video data comprising at least one of uninterpolated or preprocessed raw image data, encapsulated with associated audio data and associated metadata comprising camera source settings, timecode, and raw format information generated during an initial capture for enabling the processing subsystem to generate a fully demosaiced and color-processed video with a synchronized audio output during playback or editing;
- and
- (ii) one or more high-speed communication interfaces comprising at least one of:
- (A) a gigabit or higher rate network interface for at least one of wired or wireless networking;
- or (B) a high-speed serial interface comprising one or more data links configured for at least one of inputting video data or outputting video data, including for display output;
- (b) at least one of an on-board display or a display output;
- and
- (c) software stored on a computer-readable storage medium for execution on the processing subsystem for system control, the system control comprising at least one of image processing, analysis, recording, playing back or streaming, visualizing, or networking functions, using at least one of a unified software interface or executing reprogrammable software to perform one or more of the functions;
- wherein the processing subsystem is configured by the software to:
- (1) receive encoded content comprising one or more files or streams of encoded video data, associated metadata, and associated audio data;
- (2) decode the encoded video data of the encoded content using the codec;
- (3) generate a visualization in a non-destructive fashion from video content comprising the decoded video data, wherein generating the visualization comprises applying at least one of image or color adjustments based on integrated metadata, received or extracted from a plurality of sources, comprising both:
- (i) content metadata, including from the received encoded content or the decoded video data;
- and (ii) metadata from the processing and display system, comprising at least one of a display profile, a display setting, a software setting, connected device metadata, or user input settings metadata;
- wherein the at least one of image or color adjustments comprises performing color transformations, including color space transformations, to achieve at least one of an accurate or dynamic representation of the video content on a scene or frame basis, and wherein the stream processing is configured for wide dynamic range content representing a wide range of scene intensity and for content formats that exceed SMPTE standard resolutions and formats by supporting at least one of scalable HD or higher resolutions or a DCI or wider color space, enabling flexible display output;
- (4) generate an audio output corresponding to the associated audio data;
- (5) utilize the one or more high-speed communication interfaces for communication, the communication comprising at least one of:
- (i) streaming or receiving live or produced content, including operating in a client-server configuration;
- (ii) transmitting or receiving content to or from connected storage devices, including portable storage devices powered by the system;
- (iii) transmitting content to or retrieving content from remote storage, including for networked collaboration or subsequent local playback;
- or
- (ii) at least one of remote monitoring or remote control;
- (6) provide a user interface for interactive control comprising live or playback visualization;
- and
- (7) receive input via at least one of a hardware control, a software control, an audio input, a sensor, a peripheral, or a remote device, and generate metadata comprising at least one of the user input settings metadata or sensor metadata in response to the received input.
