Abstract
One example method for displaying ephemeral content in video conferences includes receiving a video conference stream at a client device, displaying the video conference stream on a display in communication with the client device, displaying a content layer over the video conference stream on the display, receiving a content item from a user input device in communication with the client device, displaying the content item in the content layer at a first time, and when a predetermined period of time has elapsed from the first time, automatically removing the content item from the content layer.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- displaying a video conference stream on a display in communication with a client device, the client device connected to a video conference hosted by a video conference provider;
- receiving a content item from a user input device in communication with the client device;
- displaying the content item in a content layer at a first time for a first period of time, the content layer overlaid on the video conference stream on the display, wherein the first period of time specifies when the content item will be removed from the content layer;
- after displaying the content item, determining that the first period of time should be extended;
- and
- when the extended first period of time elapses, removing the content item from the content layer.
A system comprising:
- a non-transitory computer-readable medium;
- a processor communicatively coupled to the non-transitory computer-readable medium, the processor configured to execute processor-executable instructions stored in the non-transitory computer-readable medium to:
- display a video conference stream on a display in communication with a client device, the client device connected to a video conference hosted by a video conference provider;
- receive a content item from a user input device in communication with the client device;
- display the content item in a content layer at a first time for a first period of time, the content layer overlaid on the video conference stream on the display, wherein the first period of time specifies when the content item will be removed from the content layer;
- after displaying the content item, determine that the first period of time should be extended;
- and
- when the extended first period of time elapses, remove the content item from the content layer.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising processor-executable instructions configured to cause one or more processors to:
- display a video conference stream on a display in communication with a client device, the client device connected to a video conference hosted by a video conference provider;
- receive a content item from a user input device in communication with the client device;
- display the content item in a content layer at a first time for a first period of time, the content layer overlaid on the video conference stream on the display, wherein the first period of time specifies when the content item will be removed from the content layer;
- after displaying the content item, determine that the first period of time should be extended;
- and
- when the extended first period of time elapses, remove the content item from the content layer.
