Device for providing iot service and method therefor

An IoT server configured to communicate with an electronic device associated with a user account of an IoT service application, the IoT server comprising:

• a communication module including a communication circuit;
• at least one processor comprising processing circuitry coupled to the communication module;
• and
• memory coupled to the at least one processor and storing a program interacting with an electronic device associated with a user account registered to the IoT server,
• wherein the memory stores instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor individually and/or collectively, cause the IoT server to:
• receive user information associated with a purchased device purchased by a user via the communication module;
• identify the user account registered to the IoT server, by comparing information associated with the user account registered to the IoT server with the received user information;
• receive delivery information of the purchased device via the communication module, wherein the delivery information includes device identification information of the purchased device and delivery completion information indicating arrival of the purchased device at a delivery location;
• upon receiving the delivery information, provide a notification message comprising the delivery completion information of the purchased device and connection information for an execution screen of the IoT service application on which a user interface for registering the purchased device with the IoT server is displayed, to the electronic device associated with the user account, so that the electronic device displays the notification message to show the delivery completion information, and accesses the execution screen of the IoT service application on which the user interface for registering the purchased device with the IoT server is displayed based on the connection information;
• upon receiving a request for registration of the purchased device via the user interface, register the purchased device to the user account;
• and
• manage the registered purchased device via the IoT service application.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by at least one processor of an electronic device connected to an Internet-of-Things (IoT) server via a user account of an IoT service application, cause the electronic device to perform operations comprising:

• receiving, from the IoT server, a notification message, after the IoT server identifies the user account based on receiving user information associated with a purchased device, the notification message including delivery completion information of the purchased device indicating arrival of the purchased device at a delivery location and connection information for an execution screen of the IoT service application on the which a user interface for registering the purchased device with the IoT server is displayed;
• displaying, on a display of the electronic device, the notification message such that the delivery completion information is displayed;
• upon detecting a first user input on the displayed notification message, displaying, the execution screen of the IoT service application on which the user interface for registering the purchased device with the IoT server is displayed based on the connection information;
• and
• based on detecting a second user input on the user interface, initiating a procedure of registering the purchased device with the IoT server in association with the user account.
