Dynamic notification priority in messaging system

A messaging system comprising:

• a first program of instructions configured to provide a first-user interface to the messaging system, the first program of instructions configured to be executed on a first endpoint computing device;
• and
• a second program of instructions configured to provide a second user interface to the messaging system, the first program of instructions configured to be executed on a second endpoint computing device;
• the first program of instructions further configured to:
• receive, via the first-user interface, transmission instructions associated with transmitting a message to the second user interface;
• determine a response status of a response message, the response status indicating at least one of non-receipt of a response message originating from the second user interface or receipt of the response message originating from the second user interface;
• set a notification priority based at least in part on the response status, wherein a first response status is associated with the non-receipt of the response message, and is assigned a first notification priority, and a second response status associated with the receipt of the response message is assigned a second notification priority as indicated by information included in the response message;
• and
• activate a notification based on the notification priority.

An endpoint computing device comprising:

• memory storing a program of instructions;
• a processor coupled to the memory, the processor configured to execute the program of instructions to cause the computing endpoint device to:
• generate a graphical user interface (GUI) of a messaging system;
• receive from a first endpoint user of the messaging system, via the GUI, instructions to transmit one or more messages to a second endpoint user according to a schedule;
• determine whether a response message associated with a first message has been received before expiration of a first response window;
• and
• assign a notification priority associated with the response message based, at least in part on, whether the response message associated with the first message has been received before expiration of the first response window, wherein
• the notification priority is set to an elevated priority level assigned in response to non-receipt of a response message before expiration of the first response window, and
• the notification priority is set to a variable priority level indicated by information included in the response message in response to receiving the response message within the first response window;
• and
• initiate one of a plurality of different types of notifications to the first endpoint user based on the notification priority.
