Abstract
Apparatuses, systems, computing devices, switches, network endpoints, and methods to handle probe packets. In at least one embodiment, probe packets are handled in a more time-efficient manner as compared to non-probe packets by identifying probe packets and directing probe packets to particular queues.
Claims20
A computing system comprising one or more circuits to:
- identify a target queue associated with a received probe packet based on a field of the probe packet;
- write data associated with a service queue to the probe packet;
- cause the probe packet to be queued in the service queue based on the data associated with the service queue;
- retrieve information associated with the target queue;
- write the retrieved information associated with the target queue to the probe packet;
- and
- forward the probe packet from the computing system.

A switch comprising one or more processing circuits to:
- identify a target queue associated with a received probe packet based on a field of the probe packet;
- write data associated with a service queue to the probe packet;
- cause the probe packet to be queued in the service queue based on the data associated with the service queue;
- retrieve information associated with the target queue;
- write the retrieved information associated with the target queue to the probe packet;
- and
- forward the probe packet from the switch.

A method comprising:
- identifying a target queue associated with a probe packet based on a field of the probe packet;
- writing data associated with a service queue to the probe packet;
- causing the probe packet to be queued in the service queue based on the data associated with the service queue;
- retrieving information associated with the target queue;
- writing the retrieved information associated with the target queue to the probe packet;
- and
- forwarding the probe packet toward a destination.
