Add both tx and rx flit sequence numbers into flit header of replayable flits

A system comprising:

• a transmitter comprising:
• a first circuit;
• and
• a receiver in communicable connection with the transmitter for transmission of data over an interconnect link, the receiver comprising:
• a second circuit,
• wherein each of the first circuit and the second circuit packages a header and a data payload into a data packet for transmission to the other of the transmitter and the receiver,
• wherein, responsive to receiving a request from the transmitter or the receiver, a corresponding one of the first circuit or the second circuit is configured to encode a first sequence number and a second sequence number into the header of the data packet for transmission to the other of the transmitter and the receiver.

A method comprising:

• receiving, by a first device, data for transmission to a second device, wherein the first device is in communicable connection to the second device to transmit data packets over an interconnect link;
• assembling, by a circuit of the first device, a datagram including a header and a data payload;
• and
• transmitting, by the first device, the datagram to the second device over the interconnect link;
• wherein, responsive to a request from the second device, the circuit of the first device encodes a first sequence number and a second sequence number into the header of the datagram for transmission to the second device.
