Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, selecting a first rate limit for a conveyance of first video traffic in a communication system based on an analysis of a first plurality of key performance indicator (KPI) values for the communication system, conveying the first video traffic in the communication system in accordance with the first rate limit, and conveying first elastic traffic in the communication system based on the first rate limit. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Claims20
A device, comprising:
- a processing system including a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- selecting a first rate limit for a conveyance of first traffic in a communication system based on an analysis of a first plurality of key performance indicator (KPI) values for the communication system;
- conveying the first traffic in the communication system in accordance with the first rate limit;
- and
- conveying first elastic traffic based on the first rate limit.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- selecting a first rate limit for a conveyance of first video traffic in a communication system based on an analysis of a first plurality of key performance indicator (KPI) values for the communication system;
- conveying the first video traffic in the communication system in accordance with the first rate limit;
- and
- conveying first elastic traffic in the communication system based on the first rate limit.
A method, comprising:
- identifying, by a processing system including a processor, an amount of communication traffic present in a network;
- comparing, by the processing system, the amount of communication traffic to a threshold that is based on a capacity of resources of the network;
- selecting, by the processing system and based on the comparing, a rate limit for video traffic in the network;
- and
- conveying, by the processing system, the video traffic in accordance with the rate limit.
