Abstract
A device, communication system, and method are provided. In one example, a system for routing traffic is described that includes a network device. The network device includes a plurality of ports to facilitate communication over a plurality of planes in a multiplane network. The network device also includes a first interface that presents the plurality of ports as a single plane agnostic port to software, and a second interface that presents each port in the plurality of ports as a separate port to the software.
Claims20
A network device, comprising:
- a plurality of ports to facilitate communication over a network including a plurality of planes;
- and
- one or more circuits to:
- determine whether traffic for transmission by the plurality of ports is either a first type of traffic for transmitting application data or a second type of traffic for transmitting management data;
- direct the first type of traffic for transmitting the application data to a first interface;
- and
- direct the second type of traffic for transmitting the management data to a second interface.
A network device, comprising:
- a plurality of ports to facilitate communication over a network including a plurality of planes;
- a first software interface;
- a second software interface;
- one or more circuits to:
- determine whether traffic for transmission by the plurality of ports is either a first type of traffic for transmitting application data or a second type of traffic for transmitting management data;
- direct the first type of traffic for transmitting the application data to the first software interface;
- and
- direct the second type of traffic for transmitting the management data to the second software interface.
A system comprising:
- a plurality of ports to facilitate communication over a network including a plurality of planes;
- a first interface to communicate with at least one application;
- a second interface to communicate with a subnet manager;
- and
- one or more circuits to:
- determine whether traffic for transmission by the plurality of ports is either a first type of traffic for transmitting data of the at least one application or a second type of traffic for transmitting data of the subnet manager;
- direct the first type of traffic to the first interface;
- and
- direct the second type of traffic to the second interface.
