Abstract
A method for communicating over time-based channels which includes receiving input digital data and generating a modulated waveform encoding the input digital data by establishing positive phase differences and negative phase differences between the modulated waveform and a carrier signal. Each of the positive phase differences is representative of a bit within the input digital data of a first binary value and each of the negative phase differences is representative of a bit within the input digital data of a second binary value where the first binary value is different from the second binary value. An instantaneous amplitude of the modulated waveform is based upon summations of the carrier signal and one or more layering signals.
Claims16
A method, comprising:
- receiving input digital data;
- and
- generating a modulated waveform encoding the input digital data by establishing positive phase differences and negative phase differences between the modulated waveform and a carrier signal wherein each of the positive phase differences is representative of a bit within the input digital data of a first binary value and each of the negative phase differences is representative of a bit within the input digital data of a second binary value where the first binary value is different from the second binary value;
- wherein the modulated waveform and the carrier signal are of a first frequency;
- wherein an instantaneous amplitude of the modulated waveform is based upon summations of the carrier signal and one or more layering signals.
A method of recovering input digital data encoded into a modulated waveform wherein positive phase differences established between the modulated waveform and a carrier signal are each representative of a bit within the input digital data of a first binary value, wherein negative phase differences established between the modulated waveform and the carrier signal are each representative of a bit within the input digital data of a second binary value where the first binary value is different from the second binary value, and wherein an instantaneous amplitude of the modulated waveform is based upon summations of the carrier signal and one or more layering signals, the method including:
- receiving an encoded analog waveform generated using the modulated waveform;
- generating first digital samples of the encoded analog waveform representing a first portion of a period of the modulated waveform;
- generating second digital samples of the encoded analog waveform representing a second portion of the period of the modulated waveform;
- estimating a bit of the input digital data encoded by the period of the modulated waveform based upon the first digital samples and the second digital samples.
